For decades, a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes was framed as permanent—something to manage, not change. Today, the science is telling a different story. Recent research highlighted by BBC Science Focus Magazine points to something hopeful and empowering: type 2 diabetes can enter remission when the underlying metabolic stress on the body is reduced. Not masked. Not medicated around. Reduced. 

This is the foundation of what I call The Diabetes Reset—and it’s at the core of my health coaching work. 


What Actually Causes Type 2 Diabetes? 

At its core, type 2 diabetes is not a blood sugar problem—it’s an energy overload problem. Your body runs on glucose. The research is remarkably consistent on one point:sustained weight loss reduces fat in the liver and pancreas, allowing these organs to function normally again. When that internal pressure is relieved:  Insulin sensitivity improves  Blood glucose regulation stabilizes  The pancreas regains its ability to respond appropriately This is why diabetes remission is now being observed—not through extreme measures, but through consistent, structured lifestyle change. 


Why “Just Lose Weight” Isn’t Helpful Advice
